What Deception Point is about

When NASA pulls a meteorite from the Milne Ice Shelf, it holds fossils of insect-like creatures that seem to prove life beyond Earth. The timing could hardly matter more: a presidential election is close, and funding for NASA is a central issue. President Zachary Herney backs space research, while Senator Sedgewick Sexton wants the agency dissolved.

Herney sends a small team of scientists to the Arctic to examine the find, including Rachel Sexton, a White House intelligence analyst who is estranged from her father, the Senator. What the team discovers puts the meteorite's authenticity in doubt, and danger follows. Dan Brown's third novel mixes politics, science and secrecy at a quick pace. It will suit readers who enjoy a conspiracy story built around a big question: who benefits if the truth stays hidden?
