What is BookWard?
BookWard is a book tracker that helps you read, remember, and discover. Keep your shelf of books you have read and want to read, rate them and note why they mattered, then get personalized book recommendations that use those reasons.
Is BookWard free?
Yes. BookWard is free while it is in beta. The AI features have a fair daily limit so the service stays fast for everyone. If we introduce optional paid plans later, we will tell you first and your shelf stays yours.
How is BookWard different from other book tracking apps?
Most book trackers stop at a list and a star rating. BookWard keeps your reasons (what stood out, what you would change) and uses them to recommend books, write a Book Companion for each title, and show real covers, publication years, and free samples.
Can I import my Goodreads library?
Yes. Export your library from Goodreads as a CSV file and drop it into BookWard. Your ratings and shelves come across, and each book is matched to a real book record. StoryGraph exports work the same way.
Are the book recommendations real books?
Yes. Every recommendation is checked against real book catalogs before you see it, and anything that cannot be found is dropped. You also see the first publication year and where to find each book.
What is a Book Companion?
A Book Companion is a chapter-by-chapter guide to a book, written by BookWard's AI: the core idea, key points, frameworks, a quick reference, and a section shaped by your own taste. You can edit it, add notes, ask for changes, and save it as a PDF.
Can I read a sample of a book before I buy it?
For many books, yes. When a publisher allows a preview, BookWard shows a Read a sample button that opens real pages from the book. Some books have no sample available.
Where does BookWard get book covers and details?
From open book catalogs, including Open Library and Google Books. That is how BookWard finds real titles, authors, covers, and publication years.
Is my reading list private?
Your shelf, notes, and ratings are private to your account. We do not sell your data. Read the privacy policy for exactly what is stored and which services help run BookWard.
Does BookWard work on my phone?
Yes. BookWard works in your phone's web browser with a layout built for small screens. Just sign in at app.bookward.ai.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Settings has an export to a spreadsheet (CSV) and a full backup file, so your reading history is never locked in.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us using the contact page and we will delete your account and data. Self-service deletion is on our roadmap.
