About BookWard
BookWard exists because a list of books is not the same as remembering them.
BookWard began as a family project: a way to remember not just which books we had read, but why they mattered, and to use that memory to find the next great book.
Most book apps are built around a list and a star rating. But the value of a book is in what it gave you: an idea, a mood, a habit, a hard truth. BookWard keeps those reasons, then uses them to recommend books, write guides, and help you read with intention.
What we believe
- Reading should build on itself. Every book you finish should make the next choice easier.
- Recommendations should be honest. Real books, real reasons, and a fair heads-up about what to expect.
- Your data is yours. Private by default, and easy to export.
- AI is a helper, not an authority. We label it, we check it against real book catalogs, and we tell you when it can be wrong.
Where we are
BookWard is in beta. We are building in the open, fixing what breaks, and adding what readers ask for. If you have an idea or found a problem, we would love to hear it on the contact page or through the Feedback button in the app.
How we think about AI
BookWard uses AI to write Book Companions and recommendations, and we are open about it. AI output is labeled, recommendations are checked against real book catalogs, and we tell you when the AI cannot confirm something. You can always edit, undo, or ignore what it writes.
