Using BookWard

BookWard is a book tracking and recommendation service. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, and you are responsible for your account and for keeping your password secure. Please give us accurate information when you sign up.

Beta service

BookWard is in beta. Features may change, and the service may occasionally be unavailable or contain errors. We provide it on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Your content

You own the books you list, your ratings, and the notes you write. You give BookWard permission to store and process that content to provide the service, including sending it to our AI and service providers as described in the privacy policy.

AI-generated content

Book Companions, summaries, and recommendations are generated by AI. They may contain mistakes or omissions and are provided for information and enjoyment, not as professional advice. Always check important facts against the book itself.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse BookWard. That includes attempting to break or overload the service, bypass usage limits, access other people’s data, scrape the service, use it to break the law, or upload content you do not have the right to use. We may limit or suspend accounts that do.

Fair use limits

AI features have daily limits so the service stays available to everyone. We may change limits over time.

Third-party services and content

BookWard shows information, covers, and samples supplied by third parties such as Open Library and Google Books. Those belong to their owners, and links to stores or libraries are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for third-party sites or content.

Intellectual property

The BookWard name, logo, design, and software belong to BookWard. Book titles, covers, and text belong to their respective owners. Book Companions paraphrase and do not reproduce a book’s text.

Ending your account

You can stop using BookWard at any time and ask us to delete your account through the contact page. We may suspend or end accounts that violate these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BookWard and its owners are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months or one hundred US dollars.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If changes are material, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use BookWard after changes means you accept them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules.
