What The Great Hunt (the Wheel of Time Book 2) is about
The second book in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series begins with a theft. The Horn of Valere, said to call back dead heroes of the ages, is stolen from Fal Dara along with a tainted dagger, after the Darkfriend Padan Fain is freed. Rand al'Thor, Mat Cauthon and Perrin Aybara ride out with Shienaran soldiers under Lord Ingtar, guided by Hurin, a tracker who can smell past violence. Meanwhile Egwene, Nynaeve and Elayne travel to the White Tower in Tar Valon to learn the ways of the Aes Sedai, and an exotic army lands on the western coast. For Rand, the greater struggle is inward, as he comes to terms with his ability to channel saidin and what others believe he is destined to be. Epic, ominous fantasy that rewards readers who have started at the beginning.
