What City of Bones is about
Clary Fray is an ordinary New York teenager until she watches a boy being killed at the Pandemonium club, and discovers that no one else can see his attackers. Soon after, a boy named Jace tells her about Shadowhunters, demon-hunters who guard a hidden Shadow World, and says she has the Sight that lets her see it.
Then Clary's mother, Jocelyn, disappears after a frantic phone call, and a demon attacks Clary at home. Jace takes her to the Institute, the Shadowhunters' local headquarters, where she meets Isabelle, Alec and their tutor Hodge. Her best friend Simon is still part of her ordinary life, but her world is shifting. Behind it all is Valentine Morgenstern, who once led a group called the Circle and is now hunting a talisman known as the Mortal Cup.
