The Sun and the Star is a children's fantasy rooted in Greek and Roman mythology, co-written by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro. It follows The Tower of Nero and starts The Nico di Angelo Adventures, but it works as a standalone story. Nico, the son of Hades, is haunted by a voice calling from Tartarus. He believes it belongs to Bob, a reformed Titan.
With his boyfriend Will Solace, the son of Apollo, Nico sets out on a quest. Rachel Dare's prophecy warns that he will have to leave something of equal value behind. Bob has been captured by the primordial goddess Nyx, who is using him as bait to reach Nico. The journey puts Nico and Will's relationship to the test and makes both of them face demons within and without. Adventurous, heartfelt and often funny, it is a story about love, friendship and accepting yourself.
