What The Chalice of the Gods is about
Percy Jackson is hoping for a normal senior year, but there is a problem: under the old pact about the Big Three, he was never supposed to exist, which makes him ineligible for New Rome University. Zeus offers a way in. If Percy completes three quests and collects a recommendation letter from each god, he can attend.
With Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood beside him, Percy starts with a favor for Ganymede, Zeus's cup-bearer, whose chalice of immortality has gone missing. Along the way a nereid named Eudora is assigned as his school guidance counselor, which adds a funny, practical twist to the usual monster trouble.
This 2023 middle grade fantasy is the sixth Percy Jackson novel and opens The Senior Year Adventures, set after The Heroes of Olympus and before The Trials of Apollo. It is about friendship, growing up and what being a hero really means, and fans of the series will be glad to be back.
