What The Housemaid's Secret is about
The narrator is a housemaid who needs an employer who will not ask about her past. The Garricks fit that need, hiring her to clean their penthouse and prepare their meals. But she has never met Mrs. Garrick or seen inside the guest bedroom, and the apartment gives her reasons to worry. She hears crying and notices spots of blood on the white nightgowns.
When she finally knocks on the guest bedroom door, what she sees changes everything. She promises to protect Mrs. Garrick while keeping her own secrets hidden, and she says plainly that she has done this before. She also believes Douglas Garrick has done wrong and will pay for it. A domestic thriller about secrets, protection and revenge, it suits readers who like a narrator with something to hide.
