What Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is about

The seventh and final Harry Potter novel opens with Harry's protection gone and Voldemort's followers close behind. The Ministry of Magic has fallen under their control, so Harry, Ron and Hermione go on the run. Their task is to track down and destroy the remaining Horcruxes, the key to ending Voldemort's power, and they stumble onto the story of the Deathly Hallows along the way.

The tone is darker and more emotional than earlier volumes, with capture, danger and a looming battle at Hogwarts. Friendship, sacrifice and mortality run through it. Readers who have followed the series from the start will want to see it through.
