What The Woman in Me is about
Britney Spears tells her own story here, in a memoir that moves from her rise to stardom through the long fight to end the conservatorship that controlled her life. She writes about her relationships, about postpartum depression after becoming a mother, and about her family history. She also gives her side of widely publicized moments, including the shaved head and the umbrella incident. The tone is candid, confessional and at times funny, and it reads as someone finally holding the pen after years of being discussed by others. A reader curious about fame, control and what it costs to be a public figure will find plenty here, as will anyone who followed the story from the outside and wants to hear her perspective.
