What Firefly Lane is about
Two girls meet as teenagers on a quiet street in Snohomish, Washington, in the summer of 1974. Kate is unpopular and a little mortified by her loving, ordinary family. Tully is glamorous and driven, and she hides a secret that does her no good. Her mother, who calls herself Cloud, is addicted to drugs and neglects her, so Tully finds the closeness she lacks in Kate's company.
From there the story follows their friendship across more than thirty years in the Pacific Northwest. Kate builds a family of her own, with a husband and three children, while Tully chases a career in journalism. Warm and nostalgic, it looks at what female friends give each other, how ambition and motherhood can pull people apart, and what it takes to forgive. Readers who love a big-hearted story about lifelong loyalty will feel at home here.
