What Everything, Everything is about
Maddy Whittier is eighteen and lives in a Los Angeles house she is not allowed to leave. She has been told she has a severe immune disorder, so everything that enters her home must be sanitized, and her days are shared with her doctor mother Pauline and her nurse, Carla. Her father and brother died in a car accident.
Then a family moves in next door. Their son Olly starts messaging Maddy online, and for the first time her small world has someone new in it. Told through diary entries, texts, lists, charts and little illustrations, the story follows a first love that makes Maddy question how much of life she is willing to give up for safety. It is a debut young adult novel about longing, trust, and what it costs to be protected.
