Eva Tramell is 24, wealthy, and carrying the scars of abuse she suffered as a child. Gideon Cross is 28, a billionaire, and marked by the same kind of past. When the two meet, the pull between them is immediate and intense, and neither is used to letting anyone close. The novel opens a five-book series, and its heart is how two guarded people learn to trust one another.
