What An Abundance of Katherines is about

Colin Singleton is a former child prodigy from Chicago who worries his genius will fade with age. He has also been dumped by nineteen girls, every one of them named Katherine. Fresh out of high school, he sets off on a road trip with Hassan, his best and only friend, and they land in Gutshot, a small Tennessee town where a textile mill family offers them a summer job collecting residents' stories for an oral history.

Colin, meanwhile, is busy building a theorem he hopes will predict how any relationship will turn out. A feral hog complicates matters. Funny, nerdy and warm, this young adult novel is about heartbreak, friendship and the question of how to matter. It even includes an appendix explaining the math, for readers who like to check the work.
