What The Visitor is about
A string of killings has hit close to home for Jack Reacher. The victims are women who once served in the army, and two of them, Amy Callan and Caroline Cook, were people he knew. The FBI's profile of the killer points to someone very much like Reacher himself. With no alibi, he becomes a suspect.
His lawyer girlfriend, Jodie Garber-Jacob, gets him out of questioning, but the Bureau soon pressures him into helping, with a threat that reaches Jodie too. He is paired with two agents, profiler Julia Lamarr and Lisa Harper, and the three must work together while trust runs thin. Told partly through the killer's own unsettling voice, this fourth Reacher story turns on who holds knowledge and who holds power. In the US it was published as Running Blind.
