What Cat & Mouse is about
Alex Cross faces two threats in this thriller. Gary Soneji is out of prison and dying of AIDS caught there. Angry and suicidal, he wants revenge on Cross before the end. Meanwhile Thomas Augustine Pierce, nicknamed St. Augustine for his record of catching killers, has hunted a man called Mr. Smith since the brutal murder of his fiancee. Smith is considered not of this earth because of what he does to his victims.
An attack in Cross's own home leaves him in a coma, and Pierce is drawn into the investigation, first in Washington and then toward Paris after a postcard arrives from Smith. Readers will find the story built around hunters and the killers who stalk them.
