What The Son of Neptune is about

Percy wakes from a long sleep with almost nothing in his head except his own name and, somewhere underneath it, another: Annabeth. A wolf named Lupa tells him he is a demigod and trains him to fight with the pen in his pocket that doubles as a sword. Then he sets out for a camp for half-bloods, killing monsters as they turn up along the way.

He is not the only one with a heavy load. Hazel is supposed to be dead, and her past includes a mistake that puts the whole world's future at risk. Frank is a klutz whose grandmother insists he comes from heroes, and he hopes Apollo might claim him. The story looks at who we are when memory is missing, how self-doubt follows us into brave moments, and how much our parents shape us. Fast, funny and adventurous, it suits readers who like quests and mythology.
