What The Reptile Room is about
The Baudelaire children have already come through their first brush with Count Olaf, and for a while that might seem like cause for relief. It isn't. In this second book of A Series of Unfortunate Events, the three siblings, who are said to be the unluckiest children in the world, find that their fortunes have not turned. Count Olaf is a dastardly, scheming man, and he is not the type to give up easily. Lemony Snicket tells their story with a dry, deadpan warning that things will go badly, and the fun lies in watching three clever, stubborn children keep going anyway. A good fit for readers who like their gloom served with wit.
