What The Partner is about
Patrick Lanigan is a junior partner at a law firm in Biloxi, Mississippi, where a client named Benny Aricia has been defrauding the U.S. government through inflated Navy shipbuilding contracts. In February 1992 Lanigan fakes his death in a car crash. Six weeks later, $90 million disappears from the law firm, and he flees to South America.
He resurfaces in South America as Danilo Silva, with a new face after plastic surgery, and begins a new life in Brazil with a woman named Eva. The people he robbed spend four years looking for him. John Grisham's eighth novel is a legal thriller about greed, betrayal and the long reach of the people he left behind, and it will suit readers who like a story built on a clever scheme and a long chase.
