What The 5Th Wave (the 5Th Wave #1) is about
Four waves of catastrophe have already struck Earth, and the survivors have been scattered. Cassie is running along a lonely stretch of highway, trying to stay away from "Them," beings who look human and kill anyone they find. After the fourth wave, there is one rule: trust no one. Cassie takes it to heart, believing that staying alone means staying alive.
Then she meets Evan Walker, who is beguiling and mysterious, and who may be her only chance of rescuing her brother or saving herself. Cassie has to weigh trust against despair, defiance against surrender, and life against death. Richard Yancey's novel is tense, bleak, and fast-moving, a story of survival that keeps asking what is left of people when everything else has been taken away.
