What Monday's Not Coming is about
Claudia and Monday have always been inseparable, closer to sisters than friends. Monday is Claudia's best and only friend, so when she misses the first day of school, then the second, then a whole second week, Claudia notices at once. It seems she is the only one who does.
Without Monday, Claudia has to face tests and bullies alone, with her grades on the line. Rumors were going around last year. When Claudia asks questions, Monday's mother won't give a straight answer, and Monday's sister April is even less help. No one can remember the last time they saw Monday. The story is an urgent, unsettling look at friendship, and at what happens when a girl goes missing and the people around her barely seem to care.
