What If You Could See the Sun is about
Alice Sun has spent her school years unnoticed. She is the only scholarship student at an elite international boarding school in Beijing, surrounded by the children of the country's wealthiest and most powerful families. Then she begins to vanish for real, slipping out of sight without meaning to. When her parents admit they can no longer cover her tuition, she sees an opening. Her classmates pay well for secrets, and a girl nobody can see is well placed to collect them.
The jobs start small, but they do not stay that way. Funny, tense and set in a world where money decides almost everything, this young adult novel adds a touch of the supernatural to a story about belonging, privilege and how far someone will bend to keep her place.
