What Dream Count is about
Four women, one pandemic-shadowed stretch of time, and a lot of unfinished emotional business. Chiamaka is a Nigerian travel writer stuck alone in America, going back over the men she has loved and wondering about the choices that led her here. Her best friend Zikora, a successful lawyer, has been betrayed and left heartbroken, and has to lean on the very person she believed she needed least. Omelogor, Chiamaka's confident, plain-speaking cousin, leaves a finance career in Nigeria to study in the US and starts to doubt how well she knows herself. Kadiatou, Chiamaka's housekeeper, is raising her daughter in America when a terrible hardship threatens everything she has built. Adichie gives each woman a turn to speak, and the book turns on love, regret and what it means to live as a woman. Readers who enjoy layered, character-led fiction will find plenty here.

How we know
This page uses public data: Open Library reader counts and ratings, and Wikipedia page views. The description is paraphrased from real source text (Open Library or Wikipedia). A book is on the Rising chart only if it was published in 2025 or 2026 and its readers are active and its interest is not falling. Rankings reflect reading interest, not quality or sales.
